INESC TEC hosts 2018 Best Students at UMinho Programme

At the beginning of April, INESC TEC’s High Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) hosted high school students from Braga, Viana do Castelo and Bragança districts who have selected HASLab to experience the activity of IT researchers. The program was held under the 5th edition of Best Students at UMinho Programme.

For three days, the students Ariana Lousada, Nuno Gomes, José Veloso and Ana Moura have the opportunity to learn visual and textual programming through programming languages, namely, Java, C++, Python and Scratch. Besides, after learning some basics on Informatics and Programming, the researchers of Haskell Curry Department of HASLab that were responsible for the activity of this year, encourage the students to address several challenges by using the Robocode that is always associated with the various programming languages mentioned above.

During the activity “Having fun playing with code”, the students were able to visit the facilities of the IT Department of the University of Minho as well as meeting the researchers and collaborators of HASLab.

The “Best Students at UMinho Programme” is an initiative for high school students of Braga, Vila Real and Viana do Castelo districts who had the best grades in the previous year. This initiative is organised by the Communication, Information and Image Office of the University of Minho.
