FotoInMotion intends to create immersive multimedia stories

The goal of this new European project called FotoInMotion, which is promoted by INESC TEC's Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM), is to develop an innovative solution for the reutilisation of audiovisual content. Allowing content creators to build multimedia stories in a simple way, this idea intends to develop automatic tools for context identification, recognition of objects and people with visual information and creation of semantic descriptions, whether from an original photo or from visual content available online.

Falling within the scope of digital media and creative industries, this project includes three areas of application: photojournalism, fashion and festivals. These areas are represented in the consortium by partners, namely WorldCrunch (France), Noor Foundation (the Netherlands), Marni Group SRL (Italy) and Mittetulundusuhing Pimedate Oode Filmifestival (Estonia).

The kickoff meeting of this project took place on 22 and 23 January in Brussels, in which representatives from the associated partners as well as the European Commission Project Officer (the one responsible for monitoring the project) were present. In this meeting, it was possible to consolidate the requirements of each pilot projects and to ascertain their respective technological needs. INESC TEC was represented by Teresa Andrade and Pedro Carvalho, collaborators from CTM that together with Paula Viana, researcher from CTM, make up the main team of this project.

Besides INESC TEC, Intrasoft (Belgium), ATC (Greece) and QDEPQ Systems (the Netherlands) are the technological partners.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC, UP-FEUP and P.Porto-ISEP.
