AIRBUS searches for new technologies in INESC TEC

In order to define potential collaborations between both institutions, INESC TEC welcomed a delegation of the Airbus group on 4 July, integrated in a four day visit to Portugal, an initiative made under a technology scouting visit to research institutions aiming to identify potential partners.

Regarding INESC TEC, the purpose of this visit was to present the institute, namely the work developed in its corresponding or related fields of work, intending to open the way to providing references to enterprises and Portuguese suppliers of contributions that INESC TEC can give to the increase the turnover, namely in the areas of telecommunications, software, security, optical fibre sensors, remote sensing, virtual and augmented realities, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and technologies for digital factories.

The programme included an institutional presentation, followed by an exhibition about the technologies and the developments capable of facing the challenges proposed by the group. The members of the Board Bernardo Almada Lobo, Luís Carneiro and José Carlos Caldeira received the group, accompanied by António Gaspar, coordinator of the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG), Ireneu Dias, assistant coordinator of the Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP), Ana Barros, researcher of the Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE), Nuno Falcão e Cunha, researcher of the Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management (CEGI), and Carlos Pinho, member of the Industry Partnership Service (SAPE).

Richard Forster, responsible for the field of the Global Technology Scouting, represented the Airbus Group from Germany. From Portugal, the delegation was composed of Nuno Salgado, Account Manager of the Portuguese Business Development Agency (AICEP), and Rui Santos, Managing Director of the Portuguese Cluster of the Aeronautics, Space and Defence Industries (AEDCP).
