This section gives voice to companies and organisations that have worked with INESC TEC in various projects and activities. A good relationship and good examples are fundamental ingredients for science and technology to serve society with equal amounts of enthusiasm and professionalism.

François Aumonier, European Project Manager Do AEROSPACE VALLEY

  • "We were particularly impressed with the professionalism of the CSIG* team. By working with a research and development institution, there’s always the risk of disregarding the need to focus on the user; in this particular project, the team focused on developing a friendly interface for the users of BackOffice or smartphone. And all was done within the deadline."

History of the relationship between the company and INESC TEC

The AEROSPACE VALLEY is a French cluster that focuses on innovation projects in the aeronautics, space and embedded systems sectors. Our mission is to develop space applications and to disseminate those technologies throughout Europe.

Space applications require georeferenced information, and they implement services based on location. The widespread use of smartphones makes these intelligent devices a phenomenal channel to develop new services based on satellite signals.

We have worked with CSIG* at INESC TEC to integrate the CleanMyCity app, developed together with the Intermunicipal Community of the AVE region, as part of project APSAT.

Statement about the Project

We were particularly impressed with the professionalism of the CSIG* team. By working with a research and development institution, there’s always the risk of disregarding the need to focus on the user; in this particular project, the team focused on developing a friendly interface for the users of BackOffice or smartphone. And all was done within the deadline.

The team has also demonstrated a truly European will to collaborate when the type of project (in an Interreg SUDOE framework) did not always allow for exchanges because the applications chosen in each participating region were not based on similar technology. Even still, we worked really well together in the collaboration methodology, from selecting the applications, to studying the best economic models for each application, and analysing the best practices for three years.

Finally, together we presented various apps developed as part of the APSAT project, and each time, with every live demonstration of the CleanMyCity, the auditors were more and more excited about it. We have also sent a crew to film a promotional video in Portugal, which is now available on the website of APSAT, CIM (AVE region) and INESC TEC.

We hope we can work together again soon in another European project (Horizon 2020 or Interreg). We would also like to work with Brazil, and maybe INESC TEC could be the link between companies, public authorities and innovation centres.
