INESC TEC organises meeting of European project evolvDSO
On 26 and 27 June, INESC TEC’s Center for Power and Energy Systems (CPES)* organised a meeting of European project evolvDSO – Development of Methodologies and Tools for New and Evolving DSO Roles for Efficient DRES Integration in Distribution Networks, in the area of electrical distribution networks.
Starting in September 2013 and with a total duration of 40 months, the evolvDSO aims to develop and demonstrate innovative tools to support current and future roles of distribution system operators within the smart grids paradigm. INESC TEC, through CPES, is in charge of Work Package 3, on the development of the electricity distribution grid, which will later be demonstrated in a real environment for the different distribution system operators involved in the project.
INESC TEC is part of a working group which comprises five European distribution system operators: ENEL Distribuzione S.p.A. (Italy, project coordinator), EDP Distribuição (Portugal), ERDF - Electricité Réseau Distribution France (France), ESB Networks Ltd. (Republic of Ireland), RWE Deutschland AG (Germany). The same group includes two transmission system operators: TEN – Reseau de Transport d'Electricité SA (France) and Energinet.dk (Denmark). The consortium also includes the following institutions: EDSO for Smart Grids (Belgium), Cybergrid GmbH (Austria), Energy Pool (France), Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble (France), Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico S.p.A. (Italy), Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (Germany), University College Dublin (Republic of Ireland) and the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (Belgium). The project is funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme.
The CPES team includes Ricardo Bessa, who was responsible for organising the event, as well as Manuel Matos (coordinator of CPES), Luís Seca (assistant coordinator of CPES), Jorge Pereira, André Madureira, Leonel Carvalho, Hélder Costa and Miguel Heleno.
