INESC TEC has already submitted more than 50 projects to Horizon 2020

In the first semester of 2014, INESC TEC submitted over 50 proposals to Horizon 2020 – the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The applications were submitted in different areas, with an emphasis on the following calls: Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) with 15 projects submitted; Factories of the Future (FoF), with seven applications; Low Carbon Energy (LCE), with five proposals; Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials and Production (NMP) and Energy Efficiency (EE), both with three projects submitted.

INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) is at the top of the list of applications submitted (11), followed by the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (8), the Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (7), the Centre for Power and Energy Systems (5), the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (5), the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (4), the Centre for Applied Photonics (3), the Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management* (3), the High-Assurance Software Laboratory (1) and the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (1). Finally, three other proposals gathering various centres were also submitted.

The applications are submitted in different stages and they have different deadlines. Therefore, an increase in submissions is expected until the end of the year.

Horizon 2020 has a total of 77 billion Euros for the next seven years. This is the European Community’s largest instrument that specifically supports research, co-funding research, innovation and demonstration projects. The goal of the Horizon 2020 is to boost the European knowledge-based economy and address questions that will make a difference in people’s lives.
