INESC TEC researcher joins the European platform TPWind

Ricardo Bessa, researcher at INESC TEC’s Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES)*, was selected to join the European Wind Energy Technology Platform (TPWind), more specifically the work group on the integration of wind power into the power system (WG3: Grid Integration).

The aim with this platform is to promote and define new R&D lines related to national and European policies, as well as new technology for the wind power sector. This is also an opportunity to promote an informal collaborations between the Member-States, including those countries which are not as developed in terms of wind power. The TPWind includes partners from industrial organisations, governments, civil society organisations, R&D and financial institutions in the wind power sector.

The main goal is to identify the areas with largest potential for innovation, define new R&D tasks at a European level and identify priority lines. The platform will develop coherent recommendations, outlining the specific tasks, approaches, participants and infrastructure required, in the context of R&D in industry, and of the European Union within the Horizon 2020 framework programme. This European platform will also evaluate the global public and private funding available to pursue these tasks.
