Once upon a time... there was another trainee
* By Magna Ribeiro
Coming to INESC Porto has certainly led me to feel something that some people reading this article must have felt already. The fear and the enthusiasm are two faces of the same coin and the way we face change certainly depends on one of them.
In my specific case, after finishing my degree in Management, I wasn’t sure about the area I would like to work in, not because I had forgotten my professional goals, but because the Management Degree offers, in fact, a plethora of professional options that are almost impossible to count.
In fact, when I finished high school, I chose a degree that could actually open some doors for me as far as the entrepreneurial reality is concerned, so that afterwards I could specialise in accounting and management. But I confess I was a bit confused after that.
The traineeship I did in order to conclude my degree was a crucial factor. And even though the traineeship was mainly oriented to quality management, it required me to get in touch with the accounting area as well, and so I was sure that this was the area I wanted to dedicate myself to.
Other than this, the opportunity to come to INESC Porto as a trainee in the area of Accounting and Finances was the best thing that could happen for several reasons. Obviously for me it was worth it for the experience itself and for all the things I’ve learned. Moreover, the ability to get in touch with such a specific type of accounting and management seemed to be a great challenge and a professional asset. My experience at INESC Porto started little over four months ago and the balance is extremely positive. Also, I was lucky enough to be able to work with exceptionable people whom I respect and thank for welcoming me so well. Enthusiasm has prevailed and without a question, that is no nonsense.
