USIC participates in e-Inclusion Ministerial Conference and Expo
The e-Inclusion Ministerial Conference and Expo took place in Vienna, between 30 November and 2 December. The event had 90 stands, 1500 participants and over 130 speakers. The aim was to show the best research work carried out in the area of e-Inclusion.
It was in this context that the CAALYX project (Complete Ambient Assisted Living Experiment) was introduced. Included in the "Ageing Well" area, the project was presented as a "Smart Home" component.
Financed by the FP6 IST programme, the CAALYX project was included in the "Ambient Assisted Living" Strategic Goal and its main goal is to offer a greater autonomy to the elderly population in need of medical attention. For that, CALLYX offers a set of remote monitoring services, making it unnecessary for senior citizens to travel to a hospital on their own when in need of help.
Other than INESC Porto, the project also includes other partners, such as Telefónica I+D (Spain), COOSS Marche (Italy), Synkronix (United Kingdom), University of Plymouth (United Kingdom), University of Limerick (Ireland), ABAT (Spain) and CORS Science (Germany). INESC Porto is the project’s technical coordinator and responsible for the WP5, System Implementation. TID, on the other hand, is the administrative and financial coordinator.
USIC’s team was represented at the event by Artur Rocha and Carlos Tavares.
