UOSE participates in IEEE Sensors 2008 Conference

Researchers from the Optoelectronics and Electronic Systems Unit (UOSE), José Manuel Baptista, Filipe Magalhães, Orlando Frazão and Paulo Caldas, have recently participated in IEEE Sensors 2008 –7th IEEE Conference on Sensors (http://www.ieee-sensors2008.org/). Organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), this event took place from 26 to 29 October, in Lecce, Italy.

Gathering researchers and practitioners in the sensors field, this international conference constitutes an important platform for the presentation, discussion and exchange of information on research work carried out in this area.

The UOSE researchers presented three important articles, proving once again the important role that this Unit has been playing in the field of optical fibre sensors.

The presented articles are entitled: “Optical Refractometer Based on a Hi-Bi D-Type Fiber Loop Mirror” (Orlando Frazão, P.S Jorge, J.M. Baptista, J. L. Santos); “Characterization of Response of a Dual Resonance of an Arc-Induced Long-Period Grating to Various Physical Parameters” (Paulo Caldas, Gaspar Rego, Oleg Ivanov, J. L. Santos); and “Methane Detection System Based on Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy and Hollow-Core Fibres” (Filipe Magalhães, Joel Pedro Carvalho, Luís Alberto Ferreira, Francisco Araújo, J. L. Santos).
