Where are you now?

Every month INESC TEC sends highly qualified individuals into the market. These individuals often then go on to occupy important positions in some of the best national and international companies or they opt to form spin-offs. As the best way to perform technology transfer is through individuals, this section is dedicated to collaborators that trained at INESC TEC and now star in other companies and institutions.

Diana Martins, Eurotux Informática s.A., Software Engineer

  • Year when you began working at INESC TEC and when you left: 2015-2016
  • Centre at INESC TEC where you worked: HASLab
  • Name of the project you were involved in: Safe Storage of medical images in NoSQL databases

Explain your experience since leaving INESC TEC:

When I left INESC TEC about a year ago I started my professional career as a Software Engineer in the Research and Development team of the company Eurotux Informática in Braga.

In that team, I am responsible for the development of infrastructure projects for external clients. Besides that, I research new solutions in order to improve the internal processes and tools of the company, sharing the know-how with every team in a perspective of continuous improvement.

At the moment, I am also part of a team that is developing an innovative project in Industry 4.0 in which I am responsible for the implementation of an innovative infrastructure solution.

Being at Eurotux has been a rewarding experience as it gave me so many opportunities in terms of personal and professional growth. Here, I have the opportunity to work with several technologies in different contexts and business environments. Besides that, I have been participating in technological events of different areas, enabling contact with different purposes.

In your opinion how did your time at INESC TEC help you in your new role?

Having a degree in Biomedical Engineering, my experience at INESC TEC allowed me to get in touch with computer science more closely. I have always been interested in the field of distributed and reliable systems and learning more about this has been one of my goals. With the work I developed at INESC TEC along with the whole team, I was able to acquire a range of technical skills that are essential to my current tasks in this research and infrastructures area.

In your opinion, how  has INESC TEC changed since you left?

From what I have been able to follow of INESC TEC’s evolution after I left, I realised that the institution has been participating more and more in several technological events and it is always followed by a good social exposure. This shows that the media used by INESC TEC are being developed according to its needs, thus having a strong effectiveness. In addition to this, I also noticed a regular attendance of public figures in INESC TEC’s laboratories, showing the good work that is still being made in this institute.
