INESC TEC’S researcher wins “Best Paper Award” in Denmark

Miguel Franco, researcher from INESC TEC’s Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management (CEGI) won the Best Paper Award for the Category Case Study” at the Spring Servitization Conference 2018 which took place in Copenhagen between 14 and 16 May.

With the paper entitled “How do the External and Internal Factors Promote or Hinder Servitization of a Manufacturing Firm Over Time? An in-depth Case Research in the Elevator Industry”. The data suggest that the external factors are the main drivers for servitization dynamics. The creation of an independent organisation to deal with the supply of services, with sales force and a structure of dedicated managers and service technicians also seems to positively impact the degree of servitization over time. The study also presents new perspectives on the provision of basic and advanced services - over time it seems to be a balanced adoption of basic and advanced services, serving the former as a platform for providing the latter.

The conference with the subject “Driving Competitiveness through Servitization” is organised by the Aston Business School and the Copenhagen Business School in order to gain deeper knowledge and to promote the adoption of servitization models.

This is the major world conference dedicated to servitization that gathers academics, companies and researchers.
