INESC TEC researchers participate in International Technical Footwear Congress
On 17 and 18 May, Rui Rebelo, Tiago Cunha and Rui Dias, researchers from INESC TEC's Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE), participated in the 20th UITIC Congress - International Technical Footwear Congress that took place in Porto, regarding the theme "From fashion to factory: a new technological age".
Promoted by the Portuguese Footwear, Components, Leather Goods Manufacturers' Association (APICCAPS) and by the Portuguese Footwear Technological Footwear Centre (CTCP), this initiative was specially designed to discuss future trends in the footwear market. In this edition, INESC TEC had the opportunity to showcase the results of two projects in which it collaborates, FASCOM and BEinCPPS as well as to make two thematic presentations called " Customer-Responsive Supply Chain augmented with Shopper Marketing: a footwear fashion retail case" and " Business experiments in footwear Cyber-Physical Production Systems”.
The FASCOM project intends to obtain a quick response to the trends and preferences of the consumers on fashion products through the analysis of the interaction and sensing of stores and the development of new materials, footwear and technologies. On the other hand, BEinCPPS pretends to drastically improve the adoption of cyber-physical production systems all around Europe, creating and promoting regional innovation ecosystems driven by cyber-physical systems comprised of competence centres, production companies and SMEs.
The congress gathered around 500 professionals of 33 different countries.
