History of the relationship between the company and INESC TEC

Our relationship with INESC TEC has started only with this project and both Jasil and INESC TEC had never made contact before. We received an invite by the company Vanguarda, which is our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERC) supplier since 2003, to be the demonstrator of a project developed by INESC TEC.

Statement about the project

The only project developed with INESC TEC is the ATM – Advanced Tools Management. It intends to demonstrate an advanced and competitive solution of tools management in the precision metalworking industry through the integration of an advanced operations planning system of a logistic planner and of Lean AGVs. 

Jasil didn't have a scheduler for operations, which made it almost impossible to predict with a high level of certainty the possible delivery time given the complexity and the amount of operations that needed to be scheduled. Jasil has around 34,000 operations that need to be planned annually with some operations being dependent on others, which is practically impossible to schedule without IT support. The advanced planner developed by INESC TEC has proven to be the ideal tool for this task, becoming a vital tool by considering the availability of tools, productive and human resources, as well as subcontractors. The internal logistics was also a very important project, allowing the management along with the planning of all the production process as well as the tools in an integrated way.

We have an excellent opinion of our experience working with INESC TEC because the INESC TEC team proved to have a high level of experience and skill in the development and implementation of such projects, thus becoming the main responsible for the success.

We are already studying new opportunities to pursue this partnership because we have all the interest to develop Jasil even further with the indispensable support of INESC TEC.
