History of the relationship between the company and INESC TEC

The MTEX SOLUTIONS S.A. Company develops printing machines for the textile industry.

This was the first project in which INESC TEC collaborated with the company, which started in 2015 and extended over a period of two years.

In an extremely competitive and demanding market, the company felt the need to evolve technologically in order to respond to our customer needs. The company saw in INESC TEC the ideal partner in order to achieve the necessary and essential technological increase.

Statement about the Project

When the project started the goal of the company was to increase the production capacity of the printing machines for the textile market.

The collaboration with INESC TEC was focused on the support to the development of Electronic modules, which needed to be developed in order to monitor several subsystems of the machines and sensing.

During the sensing stage, a sensor was created in order to verify the resin state of the printing belts of the machine.

The business model of the printing machines focuses on the sale of the consumables, namely inks, and in collaboration with INESC TEC the new ink protection system for the MTEX machines has been developed.

Finally, the main goal was to put all these control and sensing modules, especially developed for the machines, to communicate in the same protocol of the remaining automation system. An EtherCAT communication protocol was implemented in all the control modules that were developed for the machines.

Overall, all the obtained results were satisfactory, the proposed goals were successfully achieved, giving particular attention to the implementation of the industrial communication protocol that was implemented in the electronic control and sensing modules developed for the machines, in which the initial expectations were exceeded.
