When he sans shade of fear or shame
The news is here: in Santa Maria, another step was made towards the completion of a centre with the ability to launch small satellites into space.
The idea is pretty clear: because a possibility of financial support, at least in operating costs, certainly weighs in the equation of this space launching business.
This means having Portugal as one of the countries that launches satellites into space, which certainly isn't a small thing. And it is good to see, for once, the development of an actual 'big' idea. Unfortunately, Portugal just keeps nurturing foolish little ideas, always being cautious not to bite off more than it can chew, always starting with the small things and never having the audacity to present a transcendent idea.
Camões, in his literary watermark, touched on this subject. He didn't forget to enhance the future achievements which will certainly make greathearted barons.
Obviously, the poet couldn't look into the future with keen eyes nor was he referring to the actual dimensions of the rib cage. He was talking about courage, audacity, of a burst sans shade of fear or shame.
Until recently, INESC TEC wasn't strongly involved in, the aerospace industry as well as the University of Porto, who didn't set up that tradition - even though there is a significant amount of skill and abilities to be put in this project.
But as it is starting to become well-known for, INESC TEC is strongly involved in the exploration of another frontier, the deep sea. And the two dark chasms, space and ocean, they touch each other in Azores.
The potential to transform this righteous Azorean piece of national soul, a submerged trace of the new Portuguese Atlantis, into one of the most influential places in the world for the understanding of the mysteries of the universe is really mind blowing. It's crazy.
But, in order to do that, it is necessary to have a set mind: sans fear or shame, available to the imagination and dreaming.
