INESC TEC ends European project on industrial predictive maintenance

This month, INESC TEC’s Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) ended the MANTIS: Cyber Physical System based Proactive Collaborative Maintenance project, which involved 47 partners distributed by 11 European countries in over three years (led by Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa J.M.A. S.Coop.).

The goal of the project is to design, develop and test a predictive maintenance platform that includes several areas such as industrial machines, vehicles and renewable energies. CESE participated in the predictive maintenance tasks (selection and tests of predictive models), which included: identification of the fault causes (Root Cause Analysis), fault forecasting (Remaining Useful Life estimation), fault detection (Anomaly detection) and optimisation of the maintenance plans. The models were applied to the forming presses of the partner ADIRA and to an injection pump of BOSCH.

Regarding the use case of ADIRA, INESC TEC also collaborated with the following partners: School of Engineering of Porto (ISEP), Institute for the Development of New Technologies (UNINOVA), Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) and XLab Razvoj Programske Opreme In Svetovanje (XLAB).

INESC TEC’s researchers from several centres participated in this project, namely Hugo Ferreira (management and research), Carlos Soares (research) and Cláudio Sá, of CESE; Catarina Félix, of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD); Mohammad Nozari, of the Centre for Research in Advanced Computing Systems (CRACS), and also Fábio Pinto and João Correia Pinto.
