INESC TEC’s researcher nominated Editor in international industrial engineering journal
João Catalão, researcher of INESC TEC’s Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES) and Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) was recently nominated Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (TII) journal.
This is the fourth time that João Catalão collaborates in the IEEE Transactions journals, participating in editions with the themes “Sustainable Energy”, “Power Systems” and “Smart Grid”.
IEEE TII focuses on knowledge based on the business automation as a way of improving manufacturing processes. That includes a number of techniques that use analysis, manipulation, and distribution of information in order to achieve greater efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, and security within the industrial environment. The articles in the IEEE TII are divided into 11 research areas: "Bioengineering", "Communication, Networks and Broadcasting", "Components, Circuits, Devices and Systems", "Computing and Processing", "Materials, Dielectrics and Plasmas", "Fields, Waves and Electromagnetism", "Geoscience", "Control Systems and Robotics", "Signal Processing and Analysis", "Transport", and "Industrial Applications in Power and Energy Systems". João Catalão will coordinate this last area at IEEE TII.
João Catalão completed the Master's degree at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon in 2003 and received his PhD degree by the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Covilhã in 2007 and 2013, respectively. João Catalão is Associate Professor with aggregation to FEUP since September of 2015, and has more than 670 publications and 7220 quotes (according to Google Scholar). His research work has been dedicated to sustainable energy systems, renewable energies, electrical market and smart grids areas.
The researcher mentioned in this news piece is associated with UP-FEUP.
