Project intends to reduce interruptions in the electricity distribution networks

Under the project developed by INESC P&D Brasil, the project “New Elements of Network Automation, with Advanced Distributed Intelligence Functions” started in April 2018.

The project has three main objectives: the development of an equipment with adequate capacities to receive protection and control functions under the smart grids; the creation of a prototyping laboratory for advances in equipment in intelligent distribution systems; and the implementation of intelligent algorithms and software, to be comprised on the developed products.

Together, intelligent software and equipment, should address present day problems in distribution networks, specifically to reduce downtime (supply interruptions).

The project “New Elements of Network Automation, with Advanced Distributed Intelligence Functions”, which has an eighteen months duration, is financed by EDP Brazil, in the environment regulated by the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). Research execution and management are carried out by STPTec and by INESC P&D Brasil.
