Have your say

"(...) all, without exception, say that this was an incredibly positive step. The group is also growing in numbers and will soon have a dimension that we would have hardly imagined if it were not for INESC Porto.", António Paulo Moreira

Free Nonsense

"In this Unit, we can always hear, simultaneously, conversations in a pretty strange dialect that sounds like Russian! Expressions like “Dobro jutro” and “Kako si” are regularly heard", Bernardo Silva

Secretary of State for Energy and Innovation at the kick-off event of REIVE project

The Power Systems Unit (USE) has officially kicked off the 2.6 million Euro project REIVE (Smart Electric Grids with Plugged-in Electric Vehicles). Carlos Zorrinho, Secretary of State for Energy and Innovation, participated in the ceremony for the public contract between INESC Porto and the Fund to Support Innovation (FAI), which took place on 26 April.

REIVE, led by João Peças Lopes, the director of INESC Porto responsible for the department of Energy, includes a research component with industrial objectives and a laboratory component associated with electric mobility. With a two-year duration, the project aims to produce results that can be directly applied in the industry.

The project is partially financed by FAI and by contributions of industrial partners, such as REN (Portuguese Electrical Network), EDP Distribuição, Efacec, Contar, Logica e Galp Energia, as well as scientific partners, including the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG) and CEEETA–ECO (Energy Consultants).

After the contract was signed, Carlos Zorrinho had the opportunity to visit INESC Porto’s facilities and met with the unit managers to know more about the activities and projects developed at the institution, mainly in the Energy area.
